Senior Portraits at Stebbins High School & the Oregon District | Dayton, Ohio

Cinematic Senior Portrait Photography in Dayton, Ohio

A few years ago, I photographed my son, Kevin, in front of Stebbins High School in his marching band uniform & saxophone. When I photographed his cousin, Xavier, I knew I wanted to echo the same location so that their family would have a continuation of images to display in their homes. It was fun to create a matching pair that captures a tradition across years and cousins.

As I looked at the images together, it felt like a moment when time folds in on itself, like in the movie, Interstellar. Photography is one of the closest ways that we get to time travel, and Kevin reminded me that music is another portal. ✨

After our time at Stebbins, we headed to the Oregon District in Dayton, stopping by Omega Music Store, a landmark for every local musician. My sons & I love to go treasure hunting for used vinyls that “call” to us. Between the neon signs, brick streets, and the low hum of music spilling from nearby shops, it felt like the perfect way to blend his passion for band with the cinematic energy of downtown Dayton. Standing in those familiar places, with the sound of a saxophone and the glow of city lights, I was reminded why I love senior sessions like this. They capture where someone is right now, and hint at where they’re going.
